2024 1st Yerevan Chamber Music School by Professor Irina Krasotina

The 1st Yerevan Chamber Music School by pianist Irina Krasotina, professor of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, Ph.D. in Art History, and Master of Spanish Music was organized in June 2024 in Yerevan. A week-long intensive educational process resulted in a magnificent gala concert on June 27 at the Arno Babajanyan concert hall in Yerevan.
Organized by the Primavera Foundation of Armenia in collaboration with the Arno Babajanyan concert hall, the summer school courses and concert admission were free both for Armenian musicians and the gala concert audience.
During a week Professor Krasotina conducted one-on-one sessions with chamber ensembles formed by the students from Yerevan Tchaikovsky Music Specialized Secondary School, Romanos Melikyan State Music College, and the Komitas State Conservatory.
The gala concert featured young musicians performing works by Haydn, Beethoven, Schwertberger, Glière, Grieg, Poulenc, and de Falla, as well as the “Arevi Mechanika” trio composed (and performed!) by 15-years old Armenian violinist and composer Victoria Ulikhanyan. The special guest, renowned AVETIS string quartet performed the Armenian premiere of the piece by living Armenian composer Arman Ghushchyan (b.1981) Forever Is Composed of Nows.
Professor Krasotina praised the musicians’ hard work and progress, highlighting the importance of chamber ensembles in fostering cooperation, trust, and social & professional ties. The summer school aims to become an annual event.
Irina Krasotina, a Master of Spanish music, and PhD in Art History, heads the Chamber Music Educational program at the Primavera Foundation of Armenia. This was her second visit to Armenia; she previously held master classes in September 2023.
